The Warning Signs That Your Water Filters Need To Be Serviced

Water filters provide fresh, pure water to many Australians year-round. They are useful because they rarely need maintenance while consistently providing great quality water that you never have to second guess. However, eventually, all water filters will require service of some kind, whether that is just a check-up or a replacement of the filters. The best course of action is to respond immediately to any of the warning signs that your water filters are starting to deteriorate. Here are three early warning indicators that you should be on the lookout for when it comes to your water filters.

Change In The Noise Of Your Water Filters During Usage

Some types of water filters make an obvious noise when they are in use, while others are completely silent. Whatever type you have, the important thing to remember is that noise is fine if that is what your water filter sounds like all the time; what you should be on the lookout for is a change in that routine noise. This can indicate that the water filters are working harder than they should be or that there is something clogging the system. You know your water filters better than anyone, and it will be fairly obvious when this problem starts to occur.

Lower Water Pressure

There is nothing worse than poor water pressure, and clogged water filters are a prime suspect for causing this problem. The easiest way to tell is if you have a single-tap water filter, as you can test your other faucets to see whether their pressure is similar to the one with the water filter attached. If your whole house has water filters attached, then you will probably need an expert to come and do this check for you. Every six or twelve months, most water filters will need servicing, so if yours is outside that time frame, you should err on the side of caution and call for help.

Bad Smell

If you have single tap water filters and notice quite an ominous smell coming from them, then you probably have some quite nasty bacteria and dirt build-up. You might already be suffering the effects of it without knowing. Obviously this is another symptom of water filters that haven't been serviced within their regular timeframe, which is why it is crucial you stick to the advised maintenance schedule. If you have a whole-home water filter, then it is a good precaution to go and check on it every few weeks to see if there is any bad smells, odd sounds or other abnormalities that could be cause for concern. You can never be too careful when it comes to the water you and your family drink.
